Stormy Mist was Foggy Mist's last foal and she was born on a farm in Maryland. Her new owner had called her several names, such as Sunkist Mist and Foggy's Miss Desert Storm, before deciding on the final name of Stormy Mist. The filly was christened with the name in honor of her grandmother, Stormy, who died in 1993. It is believed that Stormy Mist died from colic at a relatively young age. Her name was later reused on a daughter of Nightmist.
