June 14, 1988 Chestnut Pinto Mare Great Granddaughter of Misty Sire: Cyclone Dam: Foggy Mist Wind Spirit's Pedigree Misty's Wind Spirit was Foggy Mist's fifth foal. She appears to be the only one of Foggy Mist's offspring to live well into adulthood. She was born on the Chincoteague Miniature Pony Farm and lived there for the first year of her life. Celina Boltinghouse gave her the name Wind Spirit to stay with the Native American theme in her line since her mother's sire, Mugwah, was a Native American word. After she was weaned Wind Spirit became best buddies with Misty's Sunpiper, a son of Beebe Breeze. The two youngsters spent lots of time together in the paddock, sometimes even enjoying the company of their ancestor Stormy. The following year both Wind Spirit and Sunpiper were sold to Kendy Allen and went to live her farm in Manheim, Pennsylvania with a herd of other Misty family ponies. There Wind Spirit flourished into a beautiful mare. She was a nice pony, but a bit standoffish, probably because she roamed with the herd on Kendy's farm. Wind Spirit's role on the Allen farm was to be a broodmare. She had her first foal Misty's Partly Cloudy in 1992 who resembled her mother in color. Another chestnut pinto filly was born in 1994 that was named Misty's Windswept. The following year Wind Spirit had her first colt a bay pinto named Misty's Colors of the Wind. Nicknamed Hot Shot, the colt was a carbon copy of his sire Lightning of Chincoteague and the first known bay pinto in the Misty line. In 1998 Wind Spirit had her last foal a solid bay colt named Misty's Sundancer that was also sired by Lightning of Chincoteague. The same year Sundancer was born Wind Spirit and Sundancer were sold to Luanne Stone and the pair moved to her farm in Arkansas. Luanne owned Wind Spirit for about six years before selling her. Wind Spirit was last owned by Heather Fortcamp and her two daughters. She had been a member of their family since 2003. "Windy" was adored by her family and was ridden by one of Heather's daughters in Pony Club. She was the last living foal of Foggy Mist. Click on the photo for more pictures of Wind Spirit
