A 1960 tourism brochure for Chincoteague. It features Misty and her 1960 colt Phantom Wings. Including a picture of Misty, Marguerite Henry, and Phantom Wings. The write up doesn't mention the colt's name so it must have been printed before he received it in a well publicized contest.

Great great grandson Misty's Irish Mist as a foal in 2007 at the Chincoteague Pony Centre. And in 2025 at Kentucky Horse Park meeting the park's Misty statue.
Misty's Irish Mist: https://www.mistysheaven.com/irishmist.html This handsome stallion had quite an influence on Misty family, but he wasn't one himself. Lightning of Chincoteague was born on Assateague in 1988 an was purchased by the Allen family to be their herd sire. You can see how he got his name by the slash of white on his side! Lightning sired many foals out of Misty descendant mares and non Misty mares. His most famous foal is the last living greatgrandfoal of Misty, Misty II's Henry. He died in 2012 and has many living descendants today.

Thanks to Cory Lynne Chaisson for sharing these 1995 pictures from the Chincoteague Miniature Pony Farm with us! One of our favorite things is seeing old pictures like these.
The first two are Stormy's daughters Rainy and Windy. https://www.mistysheaven.com/rainy.html https://www.mistysheaven.com/windy.html The palomino is Thunder II, a son of Thunder and Beebe Breeze. https://www.mistysheaven.com/thunderii.html The last photo is Rainy's son Rainy's Boy. https://www.mistysheaven.com/rainysboy.html Misty is the subject of the Chincoteague Pony illustration in Marguerite Henry's Album of Horses. Here it is in puzzle form! A set of puzzles, like this one, were made from several of the Album of Horses and Album of Dogs illustrations.
Misty Memorabilia on Misty's Heaven: https://www.mistysheaven.com/mistymemorabilia.html The fiction of Misty of Chincoteague was inspired by real life events, like this one. Maureen and her pony Nancy beating Paul and his pony in the Pony Penning races in 1945. Marguerite Henry attended Pony Penning the next year to research what became the book Misty of Chincoteague.
Newspaper clipping found in the Beebe Ranch Museum collection. Oh no! Misty is naked!
This is a factory blank of the Breyer Misty mold. She never had paint applied to her. Factory blank Mistys are uncommon but not super rare. Great great great great granddaughter WH Surf and Sun, better known as Surfette, passed away on Assateague on February 11, 2026 after slipping on some ice. She was born in Pennsylvania and was released on Assateague in 2018. Surfette foaled five times on Assateague.
