Legacy's Island Renegade, nicknamed Chip, is the first foal of his sire Misty's Summer Rainstorm. He was a surprise foal born an August afternoon at Beebe Ranch. His dam was sold to Billy and Bonnie Beebe and she was unknowingly carrying Chip at the time. They called him Capt Chips Ahoy, where he gets the name Chip. Chip was raised in Misty's stall.
It was thought for 7 years that his sire was Hurricane Charley's Legacy, but there was some thought that his sire might be Misty's Summer Rainstorm. During the registration process in spring 2025 it was decided to find out for sure. An equine paternity test was done with hair from Chip and Misty's Summer Rainstorm. The test revealed that Chip is a Misty descendant!
Chip was sold as a weanling to Sarina Bower from Pennsylvania and in her care he has grown into a talented gelding. He has excelled in the show ring with an affinity for dressage. He's a Chincoteague ambassador showing what the breed can do. Chippy is quite a personality, feisty and silly. He stands a tall 14 hands. In July 2025 he competed at the National Dressage Pony Cup at WEC in Wilmington, Ohio. As a special surprise to the leadline kids they received a copy of Misty of Chincoteague and “autographed” by Chip! After the leadline class, he made a special guest appearance. The show staff had been announcing a very special guest but no one else knew who it was. The crowd went a little wild when announced it was a descendant of Misty of Chincoteague and he walked into the arena. Chip came in second twice at USEF Introductory level dressage tests and got to do a victory lap.
