1988 Buckskin Pinto Chincoteague Pony Stallion
Tornado is a buckskin pinto stallion that was born on Assateague in 1988. Tornado lived on Assateague for 20 years, participating in the pony swim and becoming well known to pony watchers. He has many foals from those years and has many descendants living on Assateague. He has two stallion sons on Assateague, Tornado's Prince of Tides and Tornado's Legacy.
Tornado suffered severe injuries in 2008 and was removed from Assateague by the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department. The CVFD decided to find him a home off the island and he found it with Debbie Ober in Ridgely, Maryland. Tornado was nursed back to health and is now a well loved retiree at the Ober's Hawkeye Stables. He has sired several foals there including 2011 bay pinto gelding Misty's Tornado Warning, named in honor of his sire, and 2012 chestnut pinto gelding Misty's Perfect Storm. Both geldings are out of Stormy Mist.
