Sunflower was Rainy's fourth foal and only pinto colored offspring. Rainy was pregnant with Sunflower when she was bought by a lady in Maryland. The following year, Sunflower was born and was one of the most uniquely colored ponies in the Misty line. She is the only one of Rainy's foals that doesn't have "rain" in her name. She was named after her owner found her running around a garden of sunflowers when the filly was just a few hours old.
Sunflower was later purchased by Mike Pryor and went to live at his farm in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. She has been a broodmare there, and is the known dam of Sand Piper II (2000), Pryor's Sea Breeze (2001), Seamist (2004), Phantom Mist (2005), a 2007 chestnut pinto filly, and a 2010 chestnut pinto colt.
