Dawn is the third foal of Sunshine. She was sired by the Throroughbred Grandville. He was chosen because he was a son of Big Bluffer who sired Dawn's sister Misty's Twilight. It was hoped she would be a pinto like her sister. Dawn was born on Stolen Hours Farm in Florida and was listed on the family tree in the Pictorial Life Story of Misty. She ran free and mostly untouched on the farm until after she was 2 years old. The training of Dawn was slow and careful, she was quite spirited and a handful! Cutting horse trainer Buddy Pate did her initial training. Dawn was given away to a family with children in 1987 when Dr. Price had to downsize Stolen Hours Farm.
