Mary Read is a chestnut pinto mare that lives on Assateague. Her sire is Tornado's Legacy, a son of Tornado, and her dam is Anne Bonny. One of her full siblings is Anne Bonny's Little Flower. She's named after a historical female pirate. Mary Read has had several foals including a daughter, Captain Carlon's Martha Lou, that was kept for the herd. She briefly joined the herd of WH Windy's Beach Boy in 2022. She had black pinto stallion Spirit of Chincoteague by the Misty family stallion in 2023.
