WH Wildfire, better known as just Wildfire, was a chestnut pinto mare that lived feral on on Assateague Island for six years. She was bred by Jim Beach of Walnut Hill in Avondale, Pennsylvania. Wildfire was sold to the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company in 2018. She's a full sister to WH Windy's Beach Boy, who is also living feral on Assateague, and black pinto gelding Chincoteague's Travelin' Preacher.
Wildfire had chestnut pinto gelding Misty's After the Storm in 2019 and chestnut pinto colt Misty's Inferno in 2021, both by Don Leonard Stud II. Her third foal is a look alike chestnut pinto filly who was born in 2022 sired by Surfer's Riptide. Wildfire's last foal is a flashy chestnut filly named Wildfire's Phoenix by Surfer's Riptide. Less than a month after her filly was born Wildfire was spotted down in the marsh suffering from hind end paralysis brought on by hypocalcemia. She was brought to a dry spot for treatment and hoisted to her feet by a sling overnight in the hope she would regain use of her hind legs. Unfortunately the next morning Wildfire still couldn't stand and she was humanely euthanized.
