Desert Storm was Stormcloud's first offspring that was not born to a Misty family mare. His dam was am island born light palomino Chincoteague mare named Snowstorm. Celina Boltinghouse had acquired the mare from a girl who won her at the Pony Penning raffle but could not keep her with the understanding that she could buy Snowstorm's first foal. Desert Storm was born on Chincoteague Island and was named for the Gulf War. When he was old enough he was gelded and sold to Snowstorm's original owner. She owned him him for a while before selling him again.
