Sunflower was Rainy's fifth known foal. Rainy was pregnant with Sunflower when she was bought by a lady in Maryland. The following year Sunflower was born. She is the only one of Rainy's foals that doesn't have "rain" in her name. Sunflower was named after her owner found her running around a garden of sunflowers when the filly was just a few hours old.
Sunflower was later purchased by Mike Pryor and went to live at his farm in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. She was broodmare and is the known dam of 2000 palomino pinto stallion Sand Piper II sired by Wings O' Mist, 2001 chestnut pinto mare Pryor's Sea Breeze also sired by Wings O' Mist, 2004 black pinto mare Seamist sired by Nightmist, 2005 chestnut pinto mare Phantom Mist also sired by Nightmist, a 2007 chestnut pinto filly again sired by Nightmist, and her last foal was 2010 chestnut pinto colt Phantom Rain sired by Nightstorm.
